>One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried
>piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.
>Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be
>covered up anyway; it wasnt worth it to retrieve the donkey. He
>invited all the neighbours to come over and help him. They all
>grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.
>
>At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly.
>Then, to everyones amazement he quietened down. A few shovel loads
>later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at
>what he saw. Each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was
>doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.
>As the farmers neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the
>animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon,
>everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the
>well and happily trotted off!
>
>Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick of
>getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each

>Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

>1. Free your heart from hatred Forgive.
>2. Free your mind from worries Most never happen.
>3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
>4. Give more.
>5. Expect less.

>NOW-----------
>
>Enough of the crap . .
>
>The donkey later came back and bit the s*** out of the farmer who
>had tried to bury him. The gash from the bite got infected, and the
>farmer eventually died in agony from septic shock.

>When you do something wrong and try to cover your ass, it always

LOL Very true. :D

God knows i've shaken off quite a load of dirt over the years myself, but i'm still working my way out of that blasted well. Winning the lottery would help a lot.

LOL! and at risk of gratuitous use thereof, LOL again!

Those wells can be deep, johnny, but look at it this way- it just means the guy has to shovel a lot more! :D

What happens if it rains and you get stuck in the mud then someone thows cement into the well? Or is that what one calls "complete failure"?

I read something similar in a famous 5 book once IIRC.

Basically, the 5 were trapped in a dungeon that was flooding, and they survived by treading water as the water level rose.

Simple physics.

The ending would have been different if the farmer had a shotgun and decided to use it first...

Dace I think you're completely missing the point(s) here, which are:

1) Life is going to treat you badly, shake off the little things

2)You're going to regret it if you try to do nasty things and then cover them up

3)A joke

Yes, I have read all the posts. Just posting something wacky while I was waiting for my files to be seeded completely.
