I am trying to get through the game with 5 fighters and one thief. I am having a very difficult time doing this and continue to get wasted by the magic folks.

Am I trying to do the impossible or should I try different tactics.

Firstly, welcome to Ironworks!

Secondly, if this is your first time through the game, it probably is the wrong thing. What are their names, the members of the party?

Mages and sorcerers are great and at later levels overkill, so its good to take atleast one along, but if you DO want to do it without their help i'd suggest one trick i learned from soloing(can be applied to party too). As soon as you are in the LOS of a spellcaster he'll usually cast defensive spells, mostly contigencies, now i recon you zip outta his sight and stay away for a while(next room maybe) for some time till you hear his spell protections expire(there are sound triggers), then go out and get revenge :D Repeat if necessary!

Thanks for the info so far. Have been reading the forum for a while, but have never had the need to post anything.

Not new to the game, just want to try something different. I am a melee attack person at heart anyway.

Minsc
Keldorn
Mazzy
Anomen spelling?
Yoshimo (still looking for a better thief)

You know it'd be better to add a good cleric or druid for beefing up the defence and offence also a spellcaster's untimate bane is creeping doom !Casomyr must help your party, but please do try running away from spellcasters for a while, it'll help !

Unfourtunatly, Yoshimo is the best thief you will ever have.

Later in the game Yoshimo will die. After this you will be left without a thief unless you pick up Jan, but he is also a mage. So eventually you will be left without a theif.

Just one tip from me( and I am surprised nobody has mentioned it yet).

Keldorn's Dispel ability.

To heck with waiting for their spell protections running out.

There is no decent thief in the game. Jan is dork, but we are forced to take him. Make a bounty hunter or assassin and import him in the game.
Raising dead and identification is hard without cleric and mage.

actually there was a thread on here about a thief mod in the making, or you could get the Soula mod, IIRC he's a thief (or fighter-thief)
