From "Dear Abby" newspaper column-

Dear Abby: I have always wanted to have my family history traced, but I
can't afford to spend a lot of money to do it. Any suggestions?

Dear Sam: Yes. Run for public office.

Erm... sorry but I don't get it. :(

lol Arvon

Xen, I believe it's referring to the close scrutiny political candidates are subjected to, including their personal history and that of their family. You see all sorts of information about your past (and a bit of a stretch, your family's past) if you ran for office.

But from my experience, Dear Abbey is rarely funny, or useful for that matter

But you need lots of money to run for public office.
