My friend sent me an invitation and I activated my account at Gmail. I have a question tough? Can I use Gmail with Mozilla Thunderbird or do I have to go to the internet every time I want to check a mail?
|
You can use Thunderbird

Erm... yeah, the whole idea of e-mail is to be on the net to recieve and send, so you kinda have to be online for that...
Nah, I see what you mean with this. But it is better to browse your mail from a server, rather than your home station. |
You should be able, although I never got it to work. There are instructions at the options page.

You can activate POP, at least. Linky.

<span style="color: lightblue">You can use it with Thunderbird - I am doing so right now. But the instructions given for Thunderbird are wrong. Look at the options for 'other clients' to get the right port numbers.

Since you just got gmail I reccomend the gmail notifier. You should check it out and see if it could be helpful.
I don't know whether to start a new post, so since this is about gmail I thought I'd put it in here... I have 10 gmail invites to give, so PM me if you need one. |
Let's all do it!
I've got 6 invites now ... again ... whatever. PM if you want (another) one. Frankly, on broadband Gmail's web interface is quicker and easier even than Thunderbird (which I use for my work accounts). I've got the magic bucky bits that open up Gmail, Hushmail, GMX, Yahoo, and several Hotmail accounts in separate Firefox tabs. It's crazy how many email addresses one gathers over even a single decade of rampant net usage |
