Is there any way to change this so that when I have e-mails, and I click the popup on the toolbar, or the link in the msn window, it opens the page in firefox, rather than in IE?

Can you not change this in internet optins. Change your home page to what you want too. If this is what you are looking for let me know and I can tell you how to get there. I am little confused for what you are looking for. So when you open up the net you want to open to the firefox page?

What he wants is that when you are using hotmail and are signed into MSN Messenger, then whenever you get a new email you have a small window popping up, which if you click on it takes you to the email. The window opens in IE even if your default browser is firefox. I have also been looking for a solution to this for the last few weeks.

Well the alternative is to log into hotmail via the website, therefore using firefox.

I don't think m$ will happily put this option in m$n messenger. I think it can't be done.

Apparently MSN Messenger (as in, the one you download from MS's site) should use your default browser, but Windows Messenger is hardcoded to use IE. Also, Firefox (among others) is reported to do a fairly mundane job of setting itself as default browser. Google for a program called 'SetBrowser', that should - in theory - fix your problem.

Ya know, I have MSN and I just don't like it. I'm not sure why, but I think if what you're suggesting is possible, it would make it more appealing.
I think the problem was, every time I started my PC, I would get about 1000 MSN windows popping up. |
my hotmail opens in FF....not sure how I did it though.... or it did on the other computer....

Hmmm, the program didn't seem to work. It couldn't "locate the specifed file", although I specified location and clicked on the firefox icon in the program files folder.
If any else wants the program, it's here: SetBrowser 1.4 If you get it to work, or realise where I am going wrong, please tell me... [ 12-04-2004, 07:01 PM: Message edited by: Callum ] |
