I always go with good. In fact, in most CRPGs, if possible, the first char I try is always a LG Paladin.

Rand Al'Thor type. Most powerfull channeler but destined to go insane when he defeats the dark lord and destroy the world. Again.

That or the Raistlin. Evil in a not really evil way. Does what he has to do to get power.

You know that later in the game you become a SLAYER. Man slayers are powerful and can take down anything. Maybe a dragon I never tried against a dragon.
