heres the deal: I have a virus. No biggie there, I have Norton Anti-Virus installed...too bad it cant repair the file. Ive tried to remove it manually by following the instructions i found here, but as of yet, my efforts have been in vain.

A little adittional info so you guys can actually help me

the virus goes by the name W32.Spybot.worm, and was found from the location C:\WINDOWS\System32\msjarun.exe. After some snooping around, I found that "msjarun" is actually a program called Microsoft JavaVM...to me that doesnt sound too dangerous, apart from the word Microsoft, of course . So anywho, what I need is help to manually remove it, as the websites instructions havent really worked too well :(

thanks in advance

Trend micro, actually (link here. If it's really persistent, you may need to access the machine through a second computer or a boot disk and clean it up that way. Freakin' computers... :(

This is one tuff worm.
I will say, nevermind.

W32.Spybot.Worm is a detection for a family of worms that spreads using KaZaA file-sharing and mIRC. This worm can also spread to computers that are infected with common backdoor Trojan horses.

W32.Spybot.Worm can perform different backdoor-type functions by connecting to a configurable IRC server and joining a specific channel to listen for instructions.

aaaaah, boy do I feel smart now. you see, the thing is, I forgot the one crucial step in the symantec security response step-by-step instructions, which was running my anti-vir software WHILE in safe-mode...I ran it before AND after safe-mode, but not while it was on...stupid me! Anyways, I got it out now, hopefully for good, just needed to do some actual reading first  . Well, thanks to all who helped, Im sure your ways would have worked just as well ;) . now ima get some shut eye...its four-frikin'-AM here...computers, gotta hate them
