Is it a curse to leave A.Shearer on the bench?

I think it's really disrespectful of Newcastle to chuck out Bobby Robson after only three games. A man of his stature should have been given til the end of the season. Newcastle have a decent team, they would've picked up points sooner or later anyway. I suppose Patrick Kluivert will prove to have been a waste of money, since it looks like Alan Shearer will become player/manager, and he's not going to put himself on the bench. It's all a bit of a mess, innit?

Remind me of Ruud Gullit when he put Alan Shearer in the bench. soon afterwards he got the boot.
