Is anybody else lucky enough to be a "Alpha 0" tester
for the new D&D on line Stormreach. I was lucky enough
to be picked for it. If anybody else is playing let me
know here or look for me in game. I use the name
"Red Saber" in the game and I'm playing as a human fighter "so far."

IT is really pretty cool so far I can't say much about the game
yet do to "the Alpha 0" rules but it remindes me of Balders gate in
3-D meets Neverwinter knights. Plus it's a real D&D game!!!!

Is this 'the' D&D online or some other D&D game?

TheCrimsomBlade 11-04-2005 10:25 AM

yes its the D&D online game coming out next spring!
I applied for the chance to be a tester for the game last march and they contacted me twice since then. Then on Nov.1st I was accepted as a tester for the "Alpha 0" game test along with a limited group of others. I was hopeing that others at Ironworks may have also been picked so that we could put together a 6 man team to quest together and test all the systems and different types of beings that you can use in game.

Bah, I was too late I guess. How are the specs looking atm btw? Video etc.?

Im useing a 1.6Mhz P4 with an ATI 9600 Pro and the game is smooth and clean.
It is what we have always wanted D&D to be. At first you start with learning missions or what they call training missions and quests to learn how to use your character then once you reach the ability to function without dieing all the time you get to join forces with others in teams or start a team of up to 6 characters. then comes the true missions that are right out of the D&D stories at wizards of the coast. I have no Idea how long this testing will be going on but over the next 5 to 6 weeks they have Team quest tests and contests for people that get the farthest in the missions. The best mission times will get points and the top points will win free copies of the game and other things.

Very nice. I've had my eye on this game as a potential new MMO. Anything you can tell us without breaching your TOS is appreciated. I am curious to know how the death penalty works (xp debt, item repairs, xp loss etc.) and how the grind in itself is.

I looked at some screens too and it looks very nice...although the characters I saw did look a little Planescape/Guild wars with all the exotic tattoos etc. (I prefer the classic medeival D&D looks personally). Well, keep us posted!

Hrm... very interesting indeed Crimson. Do you know if it's going to be a monthly pay system such as WoW, or buying software updates like GW?

Either way I'm definately going to have to check this out....
