I'm going to be away for three weeks in a little while, so my mum's going to check my email for me. I want to make it as easy as possible for her because she's not that confident with computers, plus I can't give her instructions for every piece of mail I might get, so I want to remove my junk mail filter so all my mail just goes in the inbox and won't be deleted unless specifically told to. Currently I have the enhanced filter, where mail thought to be junk is sent to the Junk Email folder and is deleted after a week if not moved. But I can't remove it - when I go to Options and Junk Mail Filter I can only choose a different sort of filter, not remove a filter altogether. Anyone know how to get rid of junk mail filters from Hotmail?
Thanks |
Can you not just adjust the amount of time it stays in the junk mail box before being deleted?
|
I don't know... can you? How would I do that?
|
I don't know, I only use hotmail once a month to keep the account active. I only use hotmail to keep the spam down. All my real mail goes to my ISP account.
Sorry, Aelia, I'm not much use when it comes to Hotmail. |
well the default setting should be alright, it doenst catch much, only stuff that is definately spam. And no, you cant change the time, at least not on the free version of hotmail.
|
No, it often catches stuff that isn't junk (I hardly ever get real junk mail in any case). So are you saying there's no way I can remove the filter entirely? I remember I used to have no filter, why can't I go back to that now?
And that's okay, Animal . Thanks anyway |
yes, back at the start you have no filter, although I think that once you have set one thats it. But maybe not, Il have a check and see what I can find.

ok, just looked through all the options, the only one which may be of use to you is the custom filter option. If there is certain emails you don't want to go to junk then you should take a look there. Although it is quite specific. Try the advanced filter though, it may be of more use.

<span style="color: lightblue">There *should* be a way to turn it off - look at the levels for the Junk Mail filter, one of the settings should be 'Off'. Failing that, set it to the lowest there is.

There isnt an off setting, the lowest is just Obvious Junk Mail is filtered.
