Hey Everyone,

Just thought I would alert you all to the new virus outbreak. It is spreading pretty fast so please all update your antivirus software and run a Windows update to ensure you have the latest Security patches.

Virus info

Windows Update

Hope no one gets infected!

Cheers

Now THAT'S the kind of virus warning I like... short, sweet, and to the point, and with links to reputable sources where you can confirm the information.

Thanks, T-D-C.

No Problem Bungleau.

I work for Symantec so I will try to pass these type of things across ASAP. Its important to let as many people know to limit the spread.

Cheers

thanks for the link. from the site i found a tool with which I could properly remove the Blaster worm thats been bugging me for about half a year now(firewall disables, but setting the security level lower makes it run again), so thanks again!

So this virus attempts to exploit the LSASS vulnerability described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS04-011, and spreads by scanning randomly-chosen IP addresses for vulnerable systems. Okay, that explains everything ;)

phew, I see that it doesn't effect win98se.

johnny 05-03-2004 06:20 AM

It doesn't effect ANYTHING if you don't open e-mails with attachments.

Mack_Attack 05-03-2004 03:17 PM

I have been getting some weird stuff through my e-mails the last few days it all makes sense now. Thanks for the links. But like johnny says I never open them e-mails that I have no clue where they came from.

johnny 05-03-2004 03:35 PM

If i didn't specifically ask for something, i don't even open attachments from people i know. They might be infected without them even knowing it. One can never be too cautious.

Btw... Hey Mack, long time no see, where have you been ?
