OMG.. I just remembered this toy that you attach to the lawn hose outside, and it would hang above ya and spray you--then, it strangles you and beats you in the head till you pass out :D (Well, that is what people said in 1978) And it was recalled, so I dug up the NAME of it and it was called the "Water Wiggle" made by Whammo. (yeah, great name). I LOVED that toy, but was weary of it getting near me... ;)

Lawn Darts!
You may recall these. They were-- as the name implies-- giant "darts" that you would toss in the air, trying to have them land in a hoop several feet away. Of course, kids would tend to release late, launching them straight up... As I recall, they had a good 2-3 inch spike on them, so when it came down on your head, that was the end of you.

Did anything ever make such a good weapon as LAWN DARTS???? What about the good old rock-under-the-Slip N' Slide gag??
