I am growing my wisdom teeth! (I think) Started growing last week. How long should I wait to take them out? Is it too late? Is there supposed to be a swelling near where the tooth is groiwng?

And yes I tend at times worry too much...like I am now.

You don't have to get them out at all if they don't cut into your gums any. All of mine have already grown in and I'm only 16, but I don't need them pulled.

You have wisdom teeth ? I find that hard to believe. :D

Ladyzekke 03-11-2004 06:55 PM

Wisdom teeth are fine, only some people have to have them taken out, usually because the dentist see's future problems (like if your mouth is too small, or they never grow in and can become infected). I wouldn't worry about right now.

Why would you want to take them out? I have mine and they are fine where they are in my mouth :D Mine came through when I was about 16-17 too.

Dron_Cah 03-11-2004 07:23 PM

HAHA! Let's all laugh at Phil! Mine started coming in last year or two.

Epona 03-11-2004 07:31 PM

I had one come through last year, gave me hell for 6 months while it poked out and receded and then poked out again, and have another one coming through at the moment, it's coming through wonky and it hurts. The other 2 haven't put in an appearance yet.

I'm 33 next month

Mine never gave me much problem growing in. In fact, I don't even remember it... which may or may not say something about my life at the time.

However, a day did hit when it was time for them to go. I had all four extracted in one day by Doctor Fear (no kidding).

He asked if I wanted a shot or general anesthesia. I said to knock me out, and I went from "10... 9... 8..." to "what's this gauze stuff you're taking out of my mouth?". Had me out completely, just the way I like it.

Only downside was that it took about two months before I could chew gum again... ouch!
