Well you do not need to have him your party to do this quest. The programmers just put him there so you can meet with him. As for pros and cons I never did take him so I can not help you there. Other then he is lawful good Inquister.

1. If you are imprisoned it is for ever. You need a freedom scrool to remove the effects. Very nasty way to go.
2. level 14 and your 8th level spot comes at 16. You will not get a ninth level spot unless you have TOB installed.
3. I think so. Ummmm I am sure it does.
4. You can have a Fighter MAge thief or a fighter Mage Cleric
5. ?

As for the pros and cons Keldorn has only 9 dexterity so if you want to take him you'll have to find him the gauntlets of dexterity which well improve his armour class dramatically. He has true sight and dispel magic as abilites so he is an effective mage killer. He can also use the best sword in the game so overall Keldorn is a good choice to take along but only if you give him the gauntlets of dexterity. One negative thing to note would be he can't use turn undead because of his class which is a shame if it wasn't for that he'd be excellent.

One thing to note keldorns weapon profeceincies are:

++two-handed sword
++long sword
++cross bow

If you pick him up later he also has profeceincies in bastard sword.

MMMMkaaaay. Keldorn IS worth it if you equip him with the Bracers of Dexterity found in the Undead City on your way to the Unseeing Eye's Lair. That will raise his Dex score 9 points, improving his AC automatically by 4. My biggest problem with both him and Anomen in the game was their low Dex scores. This pair of Bracers can fix that. In addition, Keldorn is the only NPC capable of wielding Carsomyr, a +5 two-handed sword thatc an be upgraded to +6. His class also give him some special bonuses. If you can get Carsomyr and the Bracers of Dexterity, he's more than worth it.

Okay, about your kensai problem. Typically, I arm mine with either an axe, a long sword, or a katana (if I don't use Valygar). The only NPC who uses an axe in the game is Korgan, so you can get a pretty good one easily like the Frostreaver +3 (De'Arnise Keep) or Stonefire +3 (Copper Coronet). There are a bunch of good long swords scattered everywhere with my favorite being the Sword of Roses +3 (Copper Coronet). And of course, there is ONE good katana in the game, found in the Armed Compound in the Temple District. It's the Celestial Fury +3, possibly the best sword in the game. On each hit, it can stun an opponent. There is also a chance of MAJOR electrical damage.

My two cents.
