I have got this file on my computer that I want to delete but when I go to delete it it says access denied. Is there any way to change this. Thanks.

try rebbot the comp, you see is that sometimes windows replies that a program is still using that file therefore making you unable to change it, if it doesn't work than, oooo... good luck :D

What file is it? The trouble is the file is locked for some reason or another, unless your trying to delete part of the system rebooting to safe mode should let you at it. But if somethings locking files for unknown reasons, you may want to run adaware and spybotSD as well as a virus scanner.

Ah, reseting it again helped and it is gone. Thanks guys!

Although you got it now here's a little tip for the future.
If you want to delete a file but keep getting an error message open up the command prompt in windows. Then Click Start/Run and finaly CTRL+ALT+DEL and end Explorer.exe Once that is done go to the directory the file is in and delete it via the command prompt. Type explorer.exe in the run box and you're back in business. It may sound a bit complicated but if you do it once it's easy as anything. ;) [ 03-07-2004, 10:42 AM: Message edited by: Bokken ] |
<span style="color: lightblue">That method won't always work - Explorer isn't the only process which can read lock a file.

If you are using Windows XP and trying to remove avi files this is a known bug. There is a fix circulating the net for this bug.
