When you remembered a song, when it plopped in your head, and you could NOT do a search online for it... you actually had to sing it to hear it. To share it with a friend you had to sing it or play it. Necessity would birth creativity and ingenuity. If you didn't know the lyric, you'd make it up.
A fortnight ago (that's 2 weeks for you Americans) I was in a home in Philadelphia with a piano, a guitar and a heap of people at a party. We had a songbook (paid for) and a good old, singalong/jam. Much fun was had by all. Consider the popularity of Karaoke. Much fun is had from actually singing the song yourself, no matter how skilled or not you are. I remember the days when people used to comply to the rules and regulations of a message board they frequently posted at and took hints when asked to follow them... ah yes those were the days.

I am yet to hear back from the guy hosting the pic.

::nods:: Music is a great way to bond with others, certainly. And if people are unsure of the notes and/or lyrics, it can spawn much amusement. So I do suppose it's a shame that we'll be seeing less and less of that type of thing.

Moving this puppy to Gen Con, where I think it fits best.
