Its time for me to bring my machine to date. I was first thinking along the lines of improving my graphics card(G-Force 2 MX400, currently), which i will, but i dont necessarily need to buy it at this time(i can get the G-force 4 from another computer...atleast temporarily). The time to buy a new one will come in the near future, so any advice on that is welcome(im kind of torn between buying a Radeon or G-Force, but ive heard the G-Force MX series isnt all that great for gaming, while the Radeon has alot of compatability issues...). For now i was thinking of buying either RAM or more harddrive space. I have 40GB of HD, and 256DDR-Ram. How would you guys prioritize in my case?

ADD]Correction, i have 256 DIMM SDRAM...

G'day Raistlin Majere

Apart from a feeling of "i must update" what is wrong with your computer as it is? Have you tried getting rid of files and games from your hard drive that you do not need or use. If you send your computer on a strict diet and then do a defragment it should speed things up a bit.

What chip do you have?

maybe one more stick of 256 ram and a fx card. btw geforce mx isn't all that bad. i had it too and it played all my games with ease.

geesh i thought this topic was about taxes when i first saw the title.

I think computers supposedly need an upgrade after 4 years and are obsolete after 6 so i guess if your computer is older than that upgrade.

I'm embarassed to post my system specs but i am running win XP and i really know i should update, i don't understand how windows runs on this thing let alone games.

Ive already defragged and stuff, but its not helping me any. Anyway, ol' man pops is in Taiwan, so he can get me the stuff from there ALOT cheaper than i could here. The prop. as it is, is probably my taste in games. NFS:U for example, it runs pretty well with everything at minimum, but im not the kind of guy who settles for minimum specs, i guess. If im to play an "eye candy" game, i want the candy on top of all the other things the game offers...
