Sitting at home chatting away with my wife and her mother today resulted in a revelation to my wife of a family secret kept from her for 39 years and from our 17-year relationship. A secret so dark she had to reach for the brandy. A secret so stunning she *poor thing * is still in absolute shock from hearing.

What dark secret could this possibly be? What skeleton from the family closet has emerged to haunt her? It occurred to me that I did not know Carolyn’s mum's religion and asked her *Anglican was the not unexpected reply* then as we discussed the fact that we turned down a chance of being godfather and godmother to our friends child because of our issues with the catholic church, Carolyn’s mum just mentioned out of the blue that Carolyn was in fact a Catholic!!!

I'm sure that there are many proud Catholics out there in IW land but how many find out after 39 years. My wife poor thing is still in deep shock, me I have not stopped laughing yet.

“Oh have I never told you before that you where born a Catholic?” LMAO

Anybody else out there have a shocking discovery about there past just dropped into the conversation?

You had me worried for a minute - I thought you were going to say she was a spurs supporter! :D

My friend found out he was adopted in a very similar circumstance... he was at a famly reunion and one of his drunk aunt "accidentally" let it slip that he was adopted.
Her line was something like "...I remember it so well because it was around the same time your parents were getting you for adoption..."

not how you should find out...

I have a deep dark family secret that we can not tell to outsiders ;) as for something coming out of the blue like that, I also have to keep that one quiet, lol, not proper to say here

Well, I don't have any (yet), but my ex-boyfriend had an uncle slip up during a conversation between them that my ex's mother had been married before. (meaning a marriage before marring his dad) Mom had never told him (he was in his 20s when he found this out).

LOL wellard. How long are you going to torment her with this? You could at least offer to drive her to confessions every Sunday. ;) No premarital *cough* you know *cough* I hope. ;) :D

LOL, You can tell her that if she never practiced as a Catholic, she doesn't have to say she is. :D I still think that's funny that she never knew it all this time!

LOL@ Donut! You just reminded me of a Keeping up Appearances show where Onslow and Daisy are in bed discussing their honeymoon and how they almost broke up because she told him something horrible that he wished she'd admitted before they married.....she's a 'liverpool supporter'! Man...you had me set up thinking the worst possible scenario...like she found out she was born as different gender than she is now or something...I mean...come on...could you have not been a little nicer on the approach to that? Meanie.
