Well it's almost the end of the term in university for me, this is the last week, I'm swamped in late assignments and in 2 weeks I have tests...
and I'm wondering what I'm doing here...? yes I'm having second thought on if this is the right choice for me, I'm studying Library and Information Science and this term has frankly been terrible, if I was to rate my work this term I'd give it D-... I don't know why but I suddenly have no interest in what I'm studying, I've put almost every assignment on hold until 2 days before I'm suposed to turn them in, often resulting in awkward situations asking for a professor if I can return it later. I have cut classes way to much and when I attended I usually was looking out the window... I feel so alienated by most of the people in my department, most of them are middle aged women but there are few people my age, but I live in in another town so everytime there is a "Gathering" were they get together outside of school I can't join because I have a bus to catch. this also has made me very unpopular in group assignments as I always have to leave earlier and never seem to be on time... I'm regret this all very much now but it's just as if I'm subconciously wreaking my chance of passing this term so I will have a excuse to quit and get a job, I absolutly hate being almost 30 and still in school, still not having a carreer still living at home (okey I moved back but you know... ), still in the same shoes as when I was 18... grmbl... :( well I guess I better finish this report and return it, what ever it's worth... it's only one day late. Damn life sometimes sucks... |
perhaps if you have lost interest, then you should think of something different to study? might mean staying longer in the uni, but it might be worth it?

For me it would kind of depend on why you were studying. If you're doing it for the qualification and the job you end up with will have little to no relation to what you studied then I'd be tempted to say stick with it. Of course, that does depend on really how bad you're finding it - if its terrible then it still might be worth changing. But if you're doing the degree because you want to learn about a certain subject then I'd think finding that subject is no longer interesting would be pretty terminal towards your study. It depends on a lot of stuff I suppose. Over here people do degrees for lots of different reasons and half the time don't care what its in. I'm not one of them, I'll admit, but I often envy them as they'll probably be earning a lot more than me in a few years time... ;)
