Does anyone know what font is used for the Lord of the Rings text in the title logo? Is it an easily-available (standard) one, or was it created especially for the films?

Any help is appreciated.

Regards,
Michael

<font color=orange>STORMYS A FREAK! STORMYS A FREAK!!! :D That's OK so am I! I love everything about the books and Tolkien. Just glad I'm not the only one here that appreciates the Father of Fantasy! No other fantasy writer has ever completed a work even remotely close to Middle Earth, IMHO! The detail that man created was unreal! Unless someone else decides to make it his lifes work, I don't think anyone else well.

Yes well, who isn't a fan of Tolkien these days? :D Rhetorical question people, I *know* we have members that don't care for him! ;)
Anyway, RitingFool's question still hasn't been answered since he didn't ask about any of the alphabets/futharks Tolkien thought up (cool though they are) but about the font used for the logo of the movie. I checked the official movie site (www.lordoftherings.net) and I couldn't find the font anywhere in their downloads section but on Google I found this site.
Hope that helps.

I thought he was talking abot the elven font, is that not the one that starts th movie? is the one on the ring?? if not, then disregard my post :D

<font color=orange>You are, of course right Mel. Who isn't a Tolkien fan these days. But I've been a huge Tolkien fan since I was 12. I'm 40 now. To bastardize an old country song... I was Tolkien, when Tolkien wasn't cool.

Melusine 11-06-2003 01:49 PM

You don't need to convince me, Sir T ;) It's not a contest of who was first, who is the most avant-garde. I mean, I'm into classical music and 17th century poetry - man, it would be impossible for me to claim I'm the first for that! :D

Of course, I *would* have been a fan for as long as you if I were 40. ;) Hehehe.

Stormy, err... did you read my post and the opening post? Checked the link I posted? It's about the font used in the LOGO. Not the alphabets Tolkien thought up, which are available in thousands of places. It's about the logo of the movies, that font. Not that the elvish and dwarvish futharks aren't cool, but that wasn't the question, like I said before.
