Upon rebuilding my PC, I have reinstalled Quicktime and the newest version has put an icon in my taskbar with no way that I can find to remove it. I have searched the options in Quicktime, and I hae also tried deleting the shortcuts from anything that said "start-up". Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

a couple ways, short of shutting it off everytime you start your comp you can use spybot S&D to look at the programs that start automatically and turn them off all at once.

You can also search through the registry... :( that's the location of last resort.

I've been through the Quicktime site and their instructions do NOT stop it from loading. Ad Aware nor Spybot will remove it either.

The method I've found works but is temporary. Go to Start>Run>type "msconfig" then under the start tab uncheck the quicktime box. Afterwards you'll need to reboot. This will stop it from loading at startup... until the next time you use quicktime.

On a similar notice: recently I installed the latest MSN-messenger cuz a buffy of mine wanted to do tic-tac-toe (I trashed him BTW ). This program starts at start-up, connects after inet-connection has been made, shoves the main program screen in your face and then shoves a messenger-info screen in your face. And you need to officially remove it through the windows-setup screen! How's that for rude! :(

Zuvio, all that can be sorted in MSN messenger preferances.

Larry, disable it via MSconfig as suggested, then delete the damn thing! Quick-Time is a terrible media player IMHO.

Yeah, I agree but I would not be able to watch some trailers that are in Quicktime format only. What is one to do?

Oh...Quicktime is not in the msconfig listing of startup things. But the dang icon is still there!

I know this works on my computer, though it's only temporary until you restart the computer, but I just right-click and exit.

It goes under the name: qttask.exe - it ought to be there.
