With the help of a friend, who is actually a member of this forum, but only appeared previously in the RP forum...we rescued a King Snake in my back yard. Never could I have guessed that I would be doing such a thing, though I know the worth of a king snake in my area. We have copperheads around here, as well as rats from the neighbor's house...so a king snake is a useful tool. But today I found the critter stuck in a mesh net everal times twisted, in my back yard, behind the shed. The net is very small and I do not know how it managed to get wound up in it so bad to begin with, but there it was. I called Gene over because he is the "know-what-to-do" man in my area. I held the poor thing while he snipped the mesh away from it's body. It took the better part of an hour to do so. It ejected a foul smelling liquid during the first part of the work that later proved almost impossible to wash away. I guess that was a security feature. Finally, after it was freed, it slthered home to a burrow under the fence that concealed it's residence. I'll have pictures up on Stealthy's today.

You must be very proud of yourself ;) Snakes always have their uses I suppose, my uncle (whose name just happens to be Gene ) found a Black Snake about 4-5 feat long (or something like that) and they decided to let it go to keep other snakes away.

Hope the smell goes away

Well good for you Larry. The world needs more people like you. Me? When I see spiders, ladybugs or other critters (except cockroaches and other pests) in my house, I take them gently outside or, with spiders, I just leave them alone. No harm no foul. But yeah! No need to kill unless they are harming someone else or yourself. Kudos to Larry!

Well snakes have a right to live as well, right, and to just leave it there in the mesh net would be cruel. It's good that you rescued it so kudos to you.

I don't know if you have any poisonous snakes in your area but if you do I hope you know what you're doing. We don't want to loose any dedicated members here at IW. :D ;)

I'll check out the pictures right now.

I'v gotten used to all the creatures that inhabit my house human and nonhuman  I have to say my cats bring in a lot of stuff that i don't want to see eaten by them, usually lizards, i'm a cat lover and strangely enough a lizard lover thanks to Warhammer and the fact that i collect lizardmen.

Anyway never had any snakes enter my domain o.o, but then again there aren't many snakes present in Gibraltar that i know of.. i'm having way too much fun with these smileys...

Good for you Larry, giving the animal kingdom a helping hand is always a good thing

I'd always help out an animal, weither it's a snake, wolf, Choc Jr., doesn't matter, but bugs? Uhhh, those things just get under my skin for some reason.

(Snakes I can handle but can't stand roaches, weird isn't it? )
