hey this my first time playing bg2 soa and i dont know what to do with all the gems u find? do i sell them or keep them??

Um, I'm quite certain we covered this already.... and I'm quite certain it was you who asked..

You can flog most of them. Keep a couple of the more expensive types -beljurils, rogue stones cos they come in handy on a few side-quests. In general itll be obvious what you need.

Oh, and a hint - if you want to sell something but dont know if youll need it again, sell it to a shop and remember which one. That way you get the money and can get the item back if neccesary. Or you can keep it in a handy container, I use the tables in Waukeens Promenade.

You need a diamond and a bejuril gem to upgrade the horn of Valhaha found in the bridge district and a rogue stone to acess the twisted rune fight in the bridge district. In TOB you can also use a number of gems to upgrade weapons. You'll need these gems:

5 star sapphires
2 rogue stones
1 diamond
2 kings tears
1 nymph tear (TOB only)
1 emerald
1 ruby (TOB)
1 sapphire (TOB)

I remember this thread recently as well but I'm not sure who posted it. That's how I knew what gems you needed for TOB because I wrote it down.

Handy containers? Strongholds come to mind.. I always just make a point to sell pretty much everything I ever get to the guy in the Docks District, Jahabom something-or-other, outside the Temple of Oghma. He's nice, and he's good-aligned, so he won't sell my powerful stuff to some unscrupulous person plotting to overthrow the multiverse. Gotta look at the big picture...
