At the Birmingham Sheriff's office, they had finished needing the evidence for a drug case. I didn't know this, but apparently after a case is done and evidence is longer needed, the evidence is destroyed.

They instructed a deputy to destroy all the evidence connected with this case. So he did. He burned all the drug paraphernalia, and the drugs, and .............$2,100.00 in cash!

The sheriff said that it was an honest mistake and no, the sheriff's office did not have money to burn.

Damn, I wish I could get a Ferrari for $2,100. I'd go and buy one now :D
On a side note: the guy was plain dumb unless he really did pocket it
