I've gone through this game about 3 times now and still can't figure out what these things are for. Should I just leave them in the dungeon or what?

oh sorry. You find them in the maze underneath the asylum when Bodhi is 'toying' with you. Most of them are found around the minotaur statue and adjoining rooms.

yes - you can use the mithril tokens in one of the rooms in the dungeon
i forget what the actual appliance is, but it is in the middle of a room in the same dungeon, and when 'used' {the two arrows in a circle} it will ask you how many tokens you would like to exchange...i think there are a total of 21 tokens and you can spend a max of 20 so you are left with one for collector's rights haha
i believe there are four possible items to retrieve in this way {costing 5tokens more in increments}, the most 'expensive' being a pair of jester boots that are pretty much useless unless you are a jester, but the kick-*ss must-have don't-play-the-game-without item is for fifteen tokens...
the boots of speed!!!!

Theres a thing on the level there that takes the Mithril tokens and gives you items for them, this is what it will give you:

5 Mithril Tokens = Boots of the North
10 Mithril Tokens = Boots of Grounding
15 Mithril Tokens = Boots of Speed
20 Mithril Tokens = Jester's Chain +4

Actually, it's 5 tokens for the Boots of the North, and 10 tokens for the Boots of Grounding.

Best bet is to spend 15 tokens for the Boots of Speed, then get the Boots of the North (cold resistance), leaving one left over you can toss.

It would have been cool if they would have made an item upgradeable with that 1 mithril token through Cromwell (SoA) or Cespenar (ToB)! Oh well...
