My mouse seems to not be working well. It seems to constantly needing cleaning, but when I take the ball out and look in the ball holder, and on the little wheel thingys, theres hardly anything on it! It's really getting frustrating. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Always trying to be the bum, aren't you ? :D

I'm on to you, you sneak. You're trying to make us feel bad and give you money for a new mouse.

Well... NO WAY... finish school, get a job, and buy it yourself. :D

could proly find a mouse like that on ebay...but it would no doubt be in worse shape than your current one

i suggest you save up and buy one of those mouses that dont have a ball

barring that...maybe try using a surface with a higher friction than your current one

course the begs the question on whether or not its the tracking devices inside the mouse thats the problem or if its the ball

try opening it up while your puter is on and moving the little rollers around; see if the mouse on screen reacts as it ought to. if it doesnt then you need a new mouse.

A couple of thoughts...

... sometimes, it's not the mouse, but the surface the mouse is on. Are you using a mousepad? Try a different one, or try using one. I don't like the plastic-like ones; I prefer a cloth one.

... at CompUSA today, I saw basic mice selling for around US$2.97. That should almost make CA$5.83, before the tax :D Do they have CompUSA in Canada? Or is it CompCanada? :D Whatever, check out store prices. You may be surprised.

I have an optical mouse, no ball to clean, the only true wory is dog hair in the laser lens, but that is a simple thing to remedy, plus you don't even need a mouse pad with it :D it is cool, oh and if you get one....do not turn it over and look at the pretty red light, lol did that and was blinded for a half an hour, remember it is a laser and can damage your eyes, luckly mine was not permenant but it is cool, makes playing games eaisier too, not haveing to stop and clean ball out, next one i am getting will be optical wireless, tired of wires getting tangled up :D

I have been having the same problem...mine doesn't want to go sideways anymore lol. A close inspection revealed a hairline crack in one of the wheels.
I am guessing it is wearing out after a few years of constant use.
