just bought a new computer and i would like a good LCD monitor to go along with it. I'm looking to use it for gaming, text, and digital photography. can anybody recommend a brand/model please? thanks.

Check out Tom's Hardware Guide they have reviews of many LCD monitors.

Rokenn beat me to it. Definitly go to Tom's Hardware and do yourself a BIG favor and read their latest inquiry into LCD monitor manufacturers. It is an eye opener for sure.

I got a 15 inch TFT Advent with my PC and its awesome, they are pretty cheap now and its not that small considering with most normal monitors alot of the width is hidden behind the casing.

I've read in several reports that CRT monitors are still much better for games than LCD monitors. AFAIK, some LCD monitors have trouble with different screen resolutions.

Although ive Heard the same i have encountered no problems , even with ultra high res on games like Morrowind and Battlefield, i reckon its even clearer.

Here is an ok one:

But if you play shooters, and games that require high refreshes, make sure actually play on one and see how it's Frq is set.. some will 'wash' the screen if you move in the game too fast, and looks like crap. ;)

These are the things to look at:

0.258mm pixel pitch
1920 x 1200 resolution
48-85Hz vertical frequency
29-82kHz horizontal frequency
200 nits brightness
