Its kind of sad that we live in a society were woman need such things ;)

What happens if you fall into water with this thing "activated"?

This is something we often forget when we talk about violence against women.

Yes but this jacket is of course a protection against rapists. It seems like overkill against pick-pockets. :D All I can say is that I wouldn't want one. And BTW, there is a switch on the jacket so falling into water with the thing off won't harm you. But where does one keep the batteries? [img]graemlins/blueblink.gif[/img]

Of course, but I think what Stratos is saying is that it's in fact rapists who are often known to the victim. I think it's actually true in 90% of all cases.

Perhaps so but when talking about violent crimes against women abouse in the home will further increase that number. And sometimes the word "known" is used a little too frequently. ;)

Untill somebody develops a method to make humans bullet-resistant (preferrably an in-built "borg" solution) I will remain unimpressed.


Why do people cling to the notion that they can defend their liberties when weapons that can instantly kill them with ease are so ubiquitous?

Years ago, I decided that while I had taught myself a bit about using nunchucks, I would actually go take some lessons.

The instructor, before giving me a lesson, asked why I wanted one.

I explained that I went to University in a not-so-nice part of Detroit, and wanted to better use them for protection.

His response? Why don't you get a gun? The charges are the same, and you'll live longer.

Ultimately, I took the lessons because I wanted to better my skills, and gave up on the "protection" defense (although I could). My motivation became learning, and learn I did.

So I concur -- bullets travel faster than electricity. Get the real issue and real priority straight, just like that instructor did for me.
