I need some help guys, today I just bought a new hd (maxtor 120 gig ata133 liquid bearer 8 mb) but it sometimes makes a clicking sound when I move my mouse... what could be the problem causing this?

(I do not wanna here your hd is corrupted/broken because then I'm gonna scream in agony and throw down the pc in the neighbours yard... so to speak )

HDD clicking when you move the mouse? Weird to say the least. Are you sure the noise is coming from the HDD?

I come back later, and the Hard Drive is 'clicking' over and over
Don't mean to piss in your cornflakes Annatar, but it doesn't sound good :(

Backup as much as possible, run diagnostics and cross fingers

Thus speaks a man who lost everything to a HD crash. Better to be safe than sorry.

Bad News: It sounds like your new drive is bad and is about to lose your data.

Good News: It might give you enough time to make backups of everything important and it most certainly will be replaced for free by Maxtor.

Well, I know that when the hard drive at IW went recently, Dan said that it had started "clicking." I would back up everything ASAP. I lost my hard drive a few months ago and lost everything. Not pleasant.

It sounds as if the runners are off track, like everyone said, back up everything and then return it to the manufacture for replacement
