Concorde, imo the most beautiful plane ever to grace the skies, is to be decommisioned, by British airways and air Air france very sad.

its a shame that millions of dollars is wasted on one persons single act of terrorism that can spark global disaster and leading to events what we call now as history in the making.. sigh..

IMO, it makes sense-interest was dying, and business is business.
Shame, though :(

back to topic:
i heard that when it comes to airline economy in the news before (around after sept 11) that the airlines were barly breaking even during peak season.. how so if its not.. and how ever so when the consumer confidence in airline travel is an all time low since people are afraid to travel.. second.. they may be a terror thread.. third... all that added security in the airports has increased expenses in every single way.. from time to personell.

i never knew that having an airline company could be so tough especially since its needed to travel around the globe.

Its amazing how people look to blame everything on the terrorists.

The mechanical issues (the crash outside paris, the parts falling off) of the Concord had a heck of a lot more to do with it then terrorist attacks.

Theres also been a trend twords cheap fairs over enjoyable flights. Its gotten to the point where some airlines have stoped serving hot meals durring long flights.

Er... as Seraph rightly said, it was the crash and subsequent safety fears that has made Concorde unviable. Even prior to that, and long before Sept 11th, Concorde was not particulary profitable, and made a loss some years.

It is truly a beautifully designed aircraft, and I will be sad to see it go.
