I have Windows Media Player 9.00.00.2926 and have encountered a problem:

When I double-click on an particular movie I want to watch, it loads up fine. It says connecting: at the bottom, like it normally does then it says loading codec and then it says sending request for codec and then finally it says error loading codec.

The movie plays with only the sound. The picture doesn't show at all, ONLY the sound. How do I fix this? Do I have to download a new Codec viewer?

This only happens with this particular movie. All the other movies are fine.

Any help would be appreciated!

I have had this problem before and somethimes i havent been able to get around it. Do you have DivX? If not then download it from here http://www.divx.com/divx/
then the movie may work. It may also only be viewable by Real Player although I dont think thats the problem. Have you tried checking for WMP updates?

Thanks a lot Dagorion!

I'm downloading it now. I'll see how it goes!

IT WORKS!

Thanks very much Dagorion!

It works when I play the movie through the DivX player but how do I make it work through WMP9. Can't you drag a file (DivX) into the WMP9 folder and make it work. I once had DivX and I did something like this. I don't mind if I can't do it, I'm just asking.

Thanks once again

No problem ;)
It should work without you having to do anything with it. I never had to move any files or link anything when I got it so I guess it just works with WMP.

Just tried WMP with DivX installed and it works fine

Thanks

Really? So, I have the same problem you did with not being able to view certain selections, but hearing them only...

So let me get this straight...you downloaded the DivX player, but do not need to use the DivX player to view the movie. Now that the DivX player is in your system, WMP9 will now play it? Is that wierd or what?

It's more of an issue with the DivX codec being installed into the registry. Once it's installed any multimedia app can see it and use it, trying to think of a diferent type of example, but my brain is failing me.
That's right. Once DivX is installed in your comp, WMP registers that it is installed and plays the movie with picture and sound. You can also view movies with the DivX player.

You can also try downloading Nimo Codecs, this has pretty much every codec built into it that you could need.
