There are plenty of Mages too. I can make a whole party of Mages if I wanted to, using the PC and the NPCs.

Choose a class that appeals to your style of playing.

Hey! Welcome to IW Druid. But the Point of a RPG is to be whatever u want. Fighters start off the strongest, then go to weakest, while mages r the exact opposite. Just keep that in mind

I should say that if you are new, experiment different classes. I myself think that aren´t lots of good thieves in the game, but you need only one (If you decide to use a thief). In the game there are no monks, one bard two druids, two rangers, two clerics, one paladin. There are no subkits at all too. By the way, I like the thief and the monk, but most of my friends like to play with wizards or barbarians. Try starting two or three games to see what kind of strategy you like to use in battles, so that you can choose a main character and a good party too.

If this is your first RPG, I suggest you start with a fighter character. Alot of people I know started out as a Paladin and had a great time.

hmmm..
I usually start out as a Swashbuckler or Archer. But I think you should go out for what you think would be fun and try it out. If it doesn't work, back to the old drawing board.
