I've got this weird problem occuring repeatedly. Every time I try to enter the Smithy in Beregost, the game crashes. The screen goes black for a second and then it just goes to the desktop. No error messages or anything. The same thing happens when I enter other buildings in Beregost. And it happened several times trying to rest in the same place more than once in the Cloakwood 1, particularly near that hunter's house.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? I've tried restarting the computer, twice. After that didn't work I uninstalled and then reinstalled the game. It still doesn't work right. I tried it in a couple of different saved games. If someone could help me out here, I would REALLY appreciate it.

This has happened to me before to. Thats one reason I save the game to a few different slots and often. Try reloading a different saved game that you dont have to back track too far. Honestly I don't know why this happens.

I've had this happen all the time. I got really mad so I uninstalled the game, defragged the main drive and then reinstalled the game. Haven't had any problems since then. Not sure if it's your exact problem, but the defragging definately helped me.

That file for that area may be corrupted. Do the old uninstall/reinstall then get the necessary patch and play ti your hearts content

Ok, so I'm not the only one this has happened to. It seems to be working fine now though, having no troubles. Does this just happen once in a while and then fixes itself or what? Since I firsted posted this topic, I've had no problems whatsoever, none at all. Weird...... Ah well, I'm having fun anyway.

Every so often if my cpu just blanks out or locks on me it seems that most recent save tends to get corrupted. I usually just do my latest autosave and it tends to fix itself.

Some claim that it is in the installation-process the problem happens - simply because you have a dirty CD-rom! So if you reinstall, wipe them clean.
