This was something i got in a email this mourning.. just thought i would share it with all of you..

Quote:

Summary of the World

Not to get too serious on you but here is something that had a big
impact on me....

If we could, at this time, shrink the Earth's population to a village
precisely of 100 people, with all existing human ratios remaining the
same, it would look like this:

* There would be 57 Asians, 21 Europeans, 14 from the Western
hemisphere (North and South) and 8 Africans
* 70 would be non-white; 30 white
* 70 would be non-Christian; 30 Christian
* 50% of the entire world's wealth would be in the hands of only 6
people
* 70 would be unable to read
* 50 would suffer from malnutrition
* 80 would live in sub-standard housing
* Only 1 would have a college education

When one considers our world from such an incredibly compressed
perspective, the need for both tolerance and understanding becomes
glaringly clear.

Peace...

My science teacher has this taped to one of the cabinets. The only difference is that instead of 100 people and 50 people etc., it has 1000 people and 500 people, etc.

the world would be a much friendlier place with only 100 people.

Gangrell 03-16-2003 03:10 PM

Yes, but there's still 5,999,999,900 other people to worry about

Wow, when reduced down to smaller numbers, the world seems like such a horrible place.

andrewas 03-16-2003 04:28 PM

The world is just as horrible with the full scale numbers, its just harder to comprehend it.

Timber Loftis 03-16-2003 04:49 PM

Actually, it reads to me like a racially-diversified "Dukes of Hazard." Which one's Daisy?

this just shows us what bad condition we all are..we cant comprehend big numbers as well as smaller,usually that is.

The world is a wonderful place. Don't let a few figures get you down. Don't agonize over how things ought to be, just make the best of things the way they are. Help out where you can, and never stop adapting to the situation at hand.
