I am trying to install a game (Civ III) but the computer thinks its installed, so I can't install it again. How can I remove this game from the windows registry so that the computer forgets it ever existed and i can install it!
PLEASE HELP! |
Remove all components of the game manually.

Tried that. Trust me, all that I can do is wipe it from the registry. Or re-format.. I'M NOT RE-FORMATTING!

Start->run->regedit
Search for all occurences of the word civilisation, and whoever publishes it. Microsoft I think. Thats going to be a bugger, you have to be careful when deleting Microsoft keys. |
Its by Infogrames Interactive. Phew. I knew how to get into the Registry, but i thought it'd be a bit more complex from there on in

try right clicking on the CD and going for open, so your looking through the CDs contents, then find the setup file called like setup.exe or something and run that. should overide the already installed thing, if it was saying that at the autostart screen.

Nopes, that didnt work
|
So you've completely removed it, even at the Software section in the Configuration Screen?

Hmmm...I had that problem with the Sims, it wouldn't install 'cos it thought it was already installed, yet the autorun had the install option, not the play option ('cos I tried uninstalling it, but it didn't) and it ran the uninstall wizard instead of the install wizard. When I rang Maxis (I think it was Maxis) they told me to get rid of everything in the registry to do with sims. You could try that with Civilization 3.
Good luck!! |
