Deaf Ears

Tell me about your tears, the tears you couldn't cry,
the things you heard then, the reasons why,
the ringing gunshots, the dying mans cry.
You ran away, you chose to fly.

Tell me deaf bastard why you couldn't hear,
lifes pure majesty, those you held dear,
turned your back you ■■■■■■■ queer,
you chose not to see, nor look...nor hear.

I understand, I see, I listen,
the tears on my cheeks that you see glisten...
are real...
for you...
and the others...
The dead sons, the crying mothers,
the dying men in foreign lands....my brothers,
I search for cover...

worried for myself....as ever.

Come now ear....listen to what the world hears,
see what it sees, when it's on its knees,
screaming for love...
one small shove..
in the right direction, help make the connection..
but no deaf ear,
you favour the spear...and the gun...
and the man that's on the run,
and yes deaf ear, you're having fun..
the dead father, the dying son..
you can't hear me...
you just can't hear me can you....

On the pretense that you look after my defense,
you close my mind, make my thoughts condense,
lost my direction, my confidence,
I don't understand, can't see the sense.

You seem hell bent...on your goal.
What is it.... freedom, oil or coal...
I dunno....I really don't know.

Show me now and open my eyes,
tell me the truth was not the lies,
Say you've heard the peoples cries...
so we can all live with love and pride..

Together...
Together together, in harmony..

Eyes that see not and ears so deaf,
A mind of thoughts with thoughts bereft,
A world full of absolute senselessness,
It's my fault, our fault...our carelessness.

We turn full circle now, hear the cheers,
smiles on faces wracked with tears,
Lies told by others to increase my fears,
The truth now falls......
Upon deaf ears...

Charlie dude - you are a talent . Read it all, re-read it, loved it. Glad to be the first person to reply and say that.

Thanks Davros. It means a great deal to me that someone took something from it, a smile or a thought will do.

thanks.

That really did make me think, Charlie.
Your poetry stirs emotion, as ever. It's real. It's working. It's good stuff

Keep it coming.

I'd kind of like to write lyrics for music but I wouldn't know how to get into it. I mean how would you start, where do you go to?

Thanks for the words everyone too.

Check the local newspaper for events in your area with music. Maybe just a local band playing or a bar band. You can also look in the want-ads for people putting together a band. Then just ask around for people interested in lyrics.
Personally I would check out the local punk, or underground scene, they tend to know a lot more of the artists in the area that may be into your groove. I was part of our local scene for years, and you meet alot of different people. You are bound to run into someone thats interested or knows someone who might be. Good luck man. I wish we lived close to each other. I play guitar, and would love to work with you. I know plenty of musicians here that would also.

EDIT: You might ask Yorick about this, he is a pro in this area. ;)

I guess that's the problem L.K.
I'm not after doing the legwork, it's more a hobby than a passion.
I can sometimes completey change the lyrics to a given record (from start to finish I mean) in my head while I listen and it all makes sense.

Dunno if there is such a site but it'd be cool if there was a kind of match making agency for budding musicians without lyricists and vice versa. Whereby people could try to team up.

I guess I could see some copyright issues over the former idea.....dunno....maybe.....cogs'a'clicking....thi nking...

Still, it'd be nice to be sent a piece of music and then try to fit some lyrics around it...or again...vice versa.

Ideas anyone?
