Started a new thread to not go off topic in this one linked... (MagiK's National Soveriegnity and the UN thread) and just wanted to hear some of your thoughts on it..

For one thing i could see Canada adopting the US dollar very easily and within a decade or two. But the US i dont think would really want to have us as a part of their country because: Canada has a population of 30+ million, and im not sure what the voting population is but i dont think it is any secret that we would be voting on the left side of the fence for the most part. Would the Republican party want to let a sudden and huge proportion of democrat voters join up? I doubt it. But think about all that Albertan oil, all that water all over the place, the hydro, the salmon, the lumber! ~cash register noise~

Feasible? Would America welcome Canadians into the Senate? How many seats would we get?

If we did join up Canadians could then diss the South by saying haha.. it took us over a century to submit to the Yankees while you rednecks kowtowed in a couple years. (j/k) :D

Well maybe USA, Canada, and Mexico should try to convince the UK to join NAFTA and forget about the EU???

The western provinces are welcome to join. Ontario can go stuff themselves, Quebec's going its own way anyway, and I'm ready to cut loose Vermont and Maine to join the Maritimes.

In word; NOPE! You'll had your chance back when old Benedict Arnold led a army across the border and laid seige to Quebec. To late now! You just keep your snow up there! But if you did get to join the Ole US of A, we'd probably have more than one state. your Providences and Territories would become states. That would give you 26 senators. As for representatives, I haven't a clue. It's done by population, but the number of representatives is constant. So some states would be forced to give up representatives in order for you all to have some. But I think there would be at least 13 (1 for each new state).

I'd raise a glass to that!

We just want Vancouver Island to join. The rest of Canada isn't really important. :D Amazing, I can be nice to Djinn and upset the rest of the Canadians at IW with one sentence. http://technobench.com/imghoster/tea...magicdjinn.gif

I just want to clear up any rumors about Canada being the 51st State. This is a fallacy! SOUTH JERSEY IS THE 51ST STATE!!! (We ceeded from the North :D :D :D )LOL!

Also, isn't Toronto already in the US? I mean, they have American Baseball and Hockey teams .....

I say we do it and hope the green party gets more votes

I think we should trade Hawaii for Alberta

Come one when was the last time Hawaii did something productive ;)

I doubt very seirously that any of Canada would join the US. Let me rephrase that, I seirously doubt the US will let Canada join the US. Cause like you said, Canada is mostly left wing.

Why would America want canada anyway? Albertas oil? We have oil, a whole ton of it in Alaska, but lets not go there cause that will rerail the thread. There is the lumber and all that, but the US already gets a ton of lumber and hyrdro imports from BC anyway dont they??

Of course I could be wrong aboot that eh!

Well I think it is just a Canadian plot - they are sick of seeing their swimmers spanked by OZ at the Commonwealth Games and the Pan Pacs and the Olympics - that's why they are doing it - they want to see some swimming gold again ;)

Well the baseball you can keep. I have never seen another sport waste so much time without anything happen. It could be argued that every US state with a hockey team is a Canadian province since 95% of the North American players in those teams are Canadian. And yet you root for them. LOL!

I would be for a trade. You give us Hawaii ad we give you Quebec. You give us Florida and we give you Saskatchewan. The rest of your states we can do without.

OK onto the currency. I donīt see why the US and Canada canīt have the same currency. Of course I tend to use my VISA card so I have no problems. The European nations are getting a common currency to ease travel and trading. Why canīt we? Of course we would need to change those ridiculous faces on your dollas bills. ;)

I agree with Willow, and they should put beavers on those bills instead. :D
