As I mentioned in the Cafe a few days ago my Grandfather had a stroke last Saturday, half of his body was paralyzed and numb, and he was having trouble swallowing, or speaking.

Yesterday he was speaking to my Great-Uncles Earl, Pete, and Roy, all dead several years, I'm not sure whether they were by his side in his final hours but I'd like to think they were.

He passed away this morning, it's been very hard on my Grandmother, and my dad, and the whole affair has been very difficult for me, as I am currently living some 2500 miles away and due to the fact that I'm in the process of leaving the military (clearing right now) I can't make it back for the funeral Monday and the soonest I can leave is around the 10th of March. My biggest fear about the military would be not being present when he finally passed on, and despite being in a unit where I could normally go (pulling strings and bending rules since he wasn't my legal guardian) I'm unable to be with my family through this time (due to outprocessing from the army). it seems my fear from almost 5 years ago proved more correct than I could have guessed :(

anyway, I'd like to thank Cloudy, Attalus, Galadria, Magik, TL, and all the others I can't remember right now who have expressed sympathy, and tried to give advice... the support I've gotten here has meant alot to me.

Morgeruat I don't often venture into the "Cafe". I'm very sorry to find out that your fear of not being able to be with him when he passed away and with your family during this disturbing time has come true. I do hope that your outproccessing from the army will be swiftly managed and that you will be able to be with them as soon as possible. I know it is not much comfort, but your family does understand that if you had it in your power, that you would have been there. My condolences to you and yours and my hopes that you and your family will weather these trying times and become stronger. Best wishes.

Dude, I'm sorry Morgeruat. Thats why you won't see me in the army. Anyways, really sorry, and I'm sure your family will understand. Feel better, and by all means don't spend time on IW, Family Matters are more important.

Please know that you have my prayers, and your Grandmother is in my prayers Morgeruat.

I know how hard it is, I lost my Mom Feb 22nd 2002 and this past week was really hard. 6 Months before she passed, she came home for Hospice care and the last 2 Months were just so sad. Just know that she is now in God's hands, and feels no pain. She will always be with you in spirit and in your heart.

Time will heal Morgeruat, it takes time. If you need to talk to us, you know we are here for you! You're part of the Ironworks Family Morgeruat.

Awww sorry to hear that, Morgeruat  *HUGS* ...

Maybe it is better that you grandfather died soon after having a stroke. Years ago, my own grandfather had a stroke that left him half-paralyzed, and he lived for years, had to have one leg cut off then the other, these were terrible times for himself and my mother ... :(

Your family and you late grandfather know that you are there in the way that counts - with the heart.
