Hey hey guys, im dave, and as you can see im often confused. Ive been a regular reader of this forum, and im starting BG2 agen. Im at char creation, and ive managed to narrow down the field to deciding between an Archer, Sorceror or Monk. Can you guys give me a little help as to who i should choose? Oh yeah if it helps im definately gonna have Mazzy, Edwin and Korgan in my party, either Viconia/Jaheira and probably Jan. Thanx all......

No need for an Archer. Mazzy is a good one already.

Monk if you perfer melee.

I think you should try out a Monk. If you are gong to have Mazzy, you will have a good enough archer and if you are going to have Edwin, you will have one of the best sorcerors in the game.
It sounds like your party needs a little boost in their close quarter attacks. Being a monk will help you out in this department.

Edwin is not a Sorcerer. He is a Conjurer, and more powerful than any non-hacked PC Mage could ever hope to be.

My personal preference would be archer, but its just me. Interesting party you have, a good, 2 or 3 evils and 1 or 2 neutuals. Plus what ever you are it could have interesting reactions.

LOL thanx for replying guys, and for making me feel welcome. I knew you guys would be nice ;) So monk is the go is it? Im a little worried that it wont be any good. Ive already played a little bit with sorceror and archer, and i liked all the spells and the fact that my archer could hit ANYTHING everytime, but i worried that the monk will be a crap character. Can they hit anything? Do they do much damage and are their bonuses etc really worth not being able to wear armour? Heheh once agen im confused. I was actually leaning away from the monk class before this post....

Well, to make a long post short. Monks are vulnerable below level 13, but after that, they become worthy of demi-god status.

Yep monks are golem killing machines. Grr they are good.
My archer was a complete dragon killer when she had good enough equipment. Most of it came from ToB though.
I haven't played with a sorceror (doesn't matter, though, I have Kelesy in my party) but I did play with a Kensai/mage whose greatest achievement was poking A Certain Red Dragon to death with the staff of the magi (!)
