I realize that you are doing your job Larry in that someone has complained and you have politely pointed out to Reeka why they have complained so I have no beef with you and I this is not directed at you but at the person or persons that saw it fit to complain in the first place.

Reeka is not promoting her website. She is promoting a voice chat at a scheduled time. A lot of members of Ironworks are also members at The Silver River but not all of them have time to visit both on a regular basis so a friendly reminder in Ironworks Forum reg. the time and place is only being nice.

Reeka is also inviting non-TSR members to join the voice chat. To join the voice chat you don't have to join TSR so she is not "stealing" members, merely "sharing" her voice chat.

She has done nothing wrong and it seems she is being slapped in the face for offering her chat.

EDIT: I would be there at 10:30GMT but unfortunately work calls and last time I rang my boss and told him I needed to stay home to chat on the internet he wasn't too happy [img]graemlins/blueblink.gif[/img] :D

No, no microphone is needed. Speakers would be an advantage. Poeple who don't have a microphone (or just don't wish to talk) can type as in a regular chat ;)

And I don't see the problem with inviting IW members to join in a voicechat in the hope that they may have some fun. As has been said, lots of IW members are also TSR members, but they simply visit here more than there. This is why we posted it here.

And about the sig pic link - Reeka has permission from Ziroc himself to have her sig pic link to TSR.

Larry, if you care to know the ENTIRE philosophy behind The Silver River is to promote fellowship and cooperation among other forums.

We, at The Silver River, did not complain when IW members posted in our forum about IW being down and when it was back up. We are LINKED to IW for your information.

I am not promoting MY SITE. The link is in my sig with Dan's permission and that is promotion enough. I AM promoting an INTER-FORUM VOICE CHAT sponsored by The Silver River. The scheduled voice chat has been promoted at a number of "sister forums" and no administrators or moderators have been upset about it. They have rather encouraged it.

Sadly, it it this kind of thinking that promotes hostility between forums rather than cooperation.

And to be clear: You do not HAVE TO JOIN THE SILVER RIVER OR BE A MEMBER OF THE SILVER RIVER TO PARTICIPATE.

We said that in the original post but apparently it wasn't explicit enough.

Next time I will call it the "Generic Inter-forum Voice Chat" so no one is offended.

I tried to enter the chatroom, but it won't let me in. What am i doing wrong ? All i see is a grey screen.

The chat runs through a java applet. It takes a while to initiate, and until then it is just a grey screen. Just wait for a while and it *should* turn yellow and initialise.
