I was telling Cyril about how I was having trouble with my system resources going low, and he hooked my up with Startman...a software taht acts like msconfig that helps me identify items that I do not need running on bootup. Also, This page is a listing of just about any items a person might find in their startup menu so you can determine what is needed or not.
After about 5 minutes...I came from 53% to 72% on my system power! Yeah! |
Cool! I'll definitely take a look at those links!

Thanks Larry, it had a nice tutorial on how to get some of the crap thats in my registry out

hello, is this free, or what main program is this from. where do i buy it.
if it is free I will burn it onto a disc and have my local expert's look at it. |
Yes, it is freeware.
Your local experts will all want it, if they don't have it already. But instead of burning it to CD they would probably much rather have a link to the website, don't you think? That is the simpler way... [ 02-22-2003, 12:14 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ] |

My PC is usually at 93% free after booting.

Oh! Mark! *swoons femmily* my system resources hero! :D
No but seriously, I was always under the impression that this percentage is determined by your RAM as well as how many programs you have running on your computer, is this right? Because I rarely get above forty or fifty percent. I should do some cleaning up and check out those links. Thanks Larry. |
All I was pointing out was any PC can get over 90% at boot. All you need to do is run msconfig and keep programs from running every time you start up the PC. Nothing revolutionary about it at all.

The second link I offered has a wonderful list of possible items found in msconfig that the normal user that has not been taught by his friends how to tweak his system would want to have to be able to identify those items. Sometimes, it is difficult to determine what an item is, and if it is needed. The above linked list is a resource for those people like me that needed the extra help, but got tired of asking friends to do the work for them.
