I know I said I wouldn't post for the rest of the weekend but I really must. (Besides, how many of you knew that I wasn't going to post?)
Some of you will remember that I applied to join the RAF. Well, after two weeks of waiting, I finally got a reply: "Dear Mr Stewart I am writing to thank you for your interest in the Royal Air Force, which resulted in your recent application to join. However, I regret to inform you that it has not been possible to accept your offer of service. In common with civilian organizations, it is not the policy of the Ministry of Defence to disclose specific reasons for not accepting an application for service; this was, of course, explained to you in our literature which you received when you first applied. There are many reasons why applications cannot be accepted and some of these are unique to the Royal Air Force, where the qualities required are often quite different from those needed to make a success in other walks of life. The standards for entry are not only high but of a very special kind. I realize the disappointment that this letter may cause you but I thank you for your interest and wish you every success in an alr=ternative career. Yours sincerely <signed> G A Hamilton Flight Lieutenant Office Commander" I am very annoyed at the fact that they didn't even give me a reason, but I'm gonna go and ask about it on Monday. I just thought I'd share this with you all, it makes me feel slightly better... |
Sorry to hear that Mojo, but don't give up yet.

Thanks for your sympathy. My Grandad said exactly the same thing, to just keep trying. He said a friend of his applied 5 times before he got in...

yeah I have to agree no reason is especially annoying. I had an interveiw a few months ago, and it took 2 weeks to get back to me, when they finally got back to me they said they were amazed at how well I did on the interview and said that I gave the best interview out of anyone, but that they were going with somone else. I was like WTF??? I never did get any explanation. Pissed me right off.

Work on your academic scores, the higher they are the more desirable you are.
Also, they often refuse someone first time applying just to see if you're persistent, to see how badly you want in. Don't give up. |
