And the Gunners down Mancs U 2-Zip in the big FA Cup tie tie at Old Trafford. Goals to Edu and Wiltord, and yellow cards aplenty. Pity I had to follow it on the web - no live coveragein OZ :(

Mancs Who? :D

And while I have a football thread on page 1 - lets have some more reports on the game at Upton Park ;)

Quote:

England may have had some embarrassing results through the years but Wednesday night's godawful 3-1 home defeat to Australia at Upton Park really tops the pile - and that takes some doing.

The Three Lions were odds on favourites for victory. A win that would restore some pride in England's sporting rivalry with Australia after a tortuous Ashes loss in the cricket and a laughable Davis Cup defeat at tennis had already ensued in a fledgling 2003. Instead, England completed a humiliating hat-trick of defeats

The humiliation was complete.

Well nearly. The chants of 'we want four' from the Socceroos' contingent destroyed any remnant of an Englishman's pride and was convincing proof that the delayed trip to the bar was long over due...only to discover that the barman was a deservedly gloating Aussie.

It may have been 119 days since England's previous match but it was Australia's first full match for 15 months, when they lost a World Cup qualifying play-off against Uruguay.

It's a sad day for English football. The tired old excuses of 'we didn't play as well as we know we can' or 'we know we can play better' are wearing thin.

Time to prove those claims.

Oh, and congratulations to Australia, a team that did their country proud.

It was a good game. The gunners deserved it all the way.

Watching the autopsy as we speak.

Bit upseetting I couldn't get any coverage - especially so given that we won. I followed a "live update" page on the web which typed in comments every 1-2 minutes.

It's just not the same somehow.

PS to Charlie - watch out for that Harry Kewell fellow tomorrow - he seems to be in a rare patch of form ;)

Is radio coverage not possible over the web? Maybe a dumb question but I'm sure I read or heard it somewhere. Maybe not sports coverage though.

Yeah, kewell's cool. ;)

I know that I have done that before Charlie. I found the site I used through ESPN.soccernet.com, and I probably stopped my search too quickly. I guess I should have checked out the Arsenal homepage - thay may have been able to provide me a radio commentary.

Oh well

I take it I have to sign up for the Arsenal plus at $10 per month to get the video and audio? I may do that if I ever get ADSL connected to my little island I call home. I have registered at Arsenal.com though :D - see you at the forums some time Lanesra and Donut ;)
