I recently have boughten Icewind Dale, I have it installed on my desktop and it works great! When it came to my laptop thought i get a cannot read some file error message when i try to play it! So I checked out the site and either the game is screwed or I didn't install it right, I have installed it 7 times now and no joy. Please help!

This should be in the IWD forum. And more importantly, could you post the exact error your getting?

CHDIMM.CPP, LINE 582 CRASH: When I run Icewind Dale, I receive a message that says, "An assertion failed in ChDimm.cpp, line 582. Programmer says: unable to open BIF: data\guiMOS.bif"

Unable to open guiMOS.bif? Thats odd. Is it always that file, or does it vary?

This is looking like a problem with your laptops software. What OS is it? And how much HDD space do you have free?

And see if you an find some updated drivers for it, none of them should cause something like this but weird stuff happens on laptops.

:| in english please and yes it is always that error message

OS= operating system...or which version of microsuck do you have?

HDD= hard drive disk, if you dinno where to find that info...right click on My Computer, and go to properties.

drivers- software that helps things run, or tells you comp how to accept it and how it relates to various software.

nathan says to find some drivers for your sound or video card.

andrewas 02-02-2003 03:46 PM

Not much help I can give. Its a very weird error your getting. Try asking Bioware, they may have heard of this before.
