I have never tried a on-line game yet. What multi-play game do you-all recommend. I was looking at the everquest, but it is not on this board.
Is everquest worth the time.

not mine but, many people live for the game and from what I've seen and what the Gaming Magazines say the newest version is a big hit all I can really say is try it you may like it.

Evercrack (Everquest) is an incredibly addictive game, but I'd give the nod to Asheron's Call. Not that I'm a big fan of online games, but many of my friends play it and love it to death.

If you are going to pay for an online game i would suggest Dark Age Of Camelot. Its like everyquest, but from my experience, better . The thing i dont like about eq is there is NO story, your supposed to make your own. that might sound like fun at first but to me it get boring. its your choice though.

Everquest...its like this:
you..."camp" an area for experience or loot, this continues at various spots till you are level 65 with 500 alternate advancement experience points and have that most uber gear possible dropped from the various gods/named mobs.
Oh, and you get to compete with other people for these camp spots and raid mobs, so if your in a first tier guild, youve likely done a ton of those lets move move move! type schenarious where you gotta get to mobx before guild y gets to it. and some of those guild y people arent so happy about not geting mob x so they do mean things like kill stealing, training, mouthing off etc etc.

Basically, id recommend staying FAR away from this game, it will only hurt you in the end.
ive not really tried to play full-time any other online games, but i was in the AO beta and the AC beta, theyre a little less vile in terms of competition for uber mob x etc, but i found them a little tooo...generic. hard to explain but heres an example:
AO/AC when compared to EQ are like NWN compared to BG2, they all have strong points, and weak points. AO/AC/NWN's areas all feel the same, there wasnt a whole lot of originality to them but how the game is played is a little bit better in some ways.

I just resent paying full freight for the basic game (Everquest)$50,US then paying $20 a month to play the game. I might have gone for it had the basic game been cheap and then the monthly fee. But hell I can buy a stand-alone game for that price. If money is no object go for it.

Counter Strike is great I used to play it heaps, but I've gone off online games as of late.

ultima online kicks serious ass. If you're into roleplaying on the internet then there is no comparison. And the next update (the games been online for what, 5 years?) will be house designing, there's just so many things to do just say a thing you can do in real life and you can do it here , i love it and it's cheap aswell, 10 $ a month i think, or was that 4 months? can't remember, but it's very cheap. and now there's a 3d version aswell, of the same world. just my thoughts

gaunty 02-01-2003 08:15 AM

twenty bucks a month!??? ouch!!!! ......... nope I think I will try that ultima game.
