What character that was in Baldur's Gate do you wish was in the sequel? For me it would be quite a few, the first- Dynair(sp?) Minscs witch. The lack of a straight good alignged mage is a big problem for me in this game, that's why I chose to play as a sorcerer and Aerie levels up far far to slow for me so is only really useful as
anything other than a backup cleric or mage. Another would be Knalid. I can't understand why they killed him off. Okay he only had 15 strength but give him the qauntlets of orge strenght and he becomes a great fighter, the best in the game. Two others would be Coran the thief/fighter and Kivan the ranger both great archers. So who do you wish was in Baldur's Gate 2 that was in the first one? |
Kivan, absolutely. I kept him with my party all the way through BG2 and TotSC.
I liked Coran a lot, and wish they had kept him in the game. BG2 sadly lacks pure elves as NPCs, and both Kivan and Coran were elves. So was Xan. As far as good-aligned magic users go, there's Nalia, who's a straight mage rather than a specialist so she can cast from all schools. One thing that bugged me about Dynaheir was that she was blocked from TWO schools of casting because she was an Invoker. I know Nalia is dualled from a thief, but it was done at such a low level (4th level) that it doesn't really matter. I never use Nalia as a Thief, and really only utilize her as a mage with a special talent of being able to use a short bow and a longsword. ;) But she's easily the 2nd best NPC magic user in the game (next to Edwin), and available very quickly into Chapter 2. I tend to use Nalia as my front-line power mage, and Aerie as a good backup, especially for the lower-level spells. Others I wish they had kept in, hmmm... for sheer humor, Tiax Yeslick (great LG fighter-cleric, and there's a dearth of good-aligned dwarves in BG2). I'd have much rather had Yeslick than Anomen. Branwen (great pure cleric, and I personally think Tempus rocks as the Lord of Battles!) Plus I liked her Austrian-Hungarian accent. ;) -Sazerac [ 06-27-2002, 11:16 AM: Message edited by: Sazerac ] |
I would also say Kivan
and Ajarsis - to bad you have to kill him instead :( |
This topic has probably been done to death but then again I never get tired of such things. :D
I'd go with Kivan as well, the coolest bad-ass in BG1 after Minsc. Ajantis was just plain irritating and he hardly said a thing in BG1. Dynaheir wasn't much of a talkerin BG1 and I never really felt attached to her, as a result she got overshadowed by Minsc. Xan was cool but I doubt I'd have use for an Enchanter in BG2, maybe if he was a sorceror. As for Khalid, I hope he stays dead. Garret was just plain annoying in BG1 aklthough he was an ok shot with a crossbow and his Cyrano skit in BG2 was hilarious. Yeslick and Kagain were ok, don't really like or dislike them. I wouldn't mind having Shar-Teel in BG2, she would have potential to be a great NPC (and a possible romance). Faldorn was an eco-terrorist, she sucks. Xar and Montaron..... Oh yeah! |
wtf i don't see why they couldn't add at least half the characters from BG1 that didn't officially die or somethign.
But i'd have to say that my favorite BG character was Coran (wicked with a bow) |

download the darkest day and the majority of the characters mentioned are in it. of course it won't work with TOB installed but its well worth trying out if you've already beat SOA and TOB. go to www.teambg.com and check out all the other mods too.

Khalid. If I could keep an NPC in BG2, it would be Khalid... if only to shut J up... lol, I have this hilarous image of BOTH Khalid and Aerie stuttering after J ticks them off... lol :D ;)

Khalid would ruin the Jaheira romance, and I find hers the most fun (sure ya don;'t ge trhe knob whoddled, but ya can always pretend)
I would ahve loved to have Tiax back, TIAX RULES ALL!! Also, Xan. HIs moonblade sucked, but with soem persitence (and many visits to the temple) he can become a vicious mage, witht eh right stradegy. |
If there's only one character, it'd be Xan. Even if he wasn't the best of characters stats- and classwise they could have done a LOT with his depression/pessimism. I imagine it would have produced quite a number of entertaining mono- and dialogues.
Minsc: "Minsc and Boo stand ready." Boo: *squeek* A hopeless look from Xan; "We're all doomed..." |
