Hey guys!
I was wondering if there is a difference between wathcer's keep in SoA and ToB...I just got ToB and don't know if I should start watcher's keep in SoA or wait...(different monsters? different items to loot?)

Melusine 06-27-2002 03:44 AM

Nope, it's exactly the same ;)
It's completely up to you whether you start it from SoA or ToB....
Personally, my only advice would be to at least wait till you have done some major SoA quests and gained some levels, since Watcher's Keepcan be quite tough. I've found that the storyline of TOB is pretty fast-paced so you might want to do Watchre's Keep in SoA.
Good luck!!

Actually the lvl 1 enemies vary according to your lvl.

I always start the first lvl of WK early (I don't take on the statues) - it gives items such as
unlimited arrows +1
unlimited bolts +1
dart +3 (returning)
ammo belt
potion bag (buy from knights)
short sword +4 (buy - 31.000 gp(?))
croosbow +4, (no ammo required) (buy - 11.000 gp(?))

and a few other 'goodies'

There is a danger, if you enter Watcher's Keep too soon. If you enter level one when your level is low, a certain monster will not spawn. It would not be so bad, except that monster carries one of the components to a superb Bastard Sword.

I prefer doing Watcher's Keep in ToB. It is safer that way.

You can do the Keep at any time, and the difficulty wil adjust to your level. However, if you are below lvl 10, the leader of the Helmites will tell you that you are a tansy bit too weak, and ask if you can come back later. So you should atleast be lvl 10 before entering. ;)

I would also wait doing it until chapter 6, because there are a great number of good items in there that will, IMO, make your character a bit too uber to chapter 2.

Tks guys!
I think I'm gona'wait until I get out of the Underdark and finish all the other quests. I have a Solo Sorcerer, and it's just great. I had litle difficulties with some of the enemies that where a problem in a normal party game. In a normal game u have to take care not to kill your guys with fireball, or other area of effect spells, but alone you can be reckless. My normal parties are as follows: usually me, Dalamar the Dark [sorc], Minsk, Keldorn, Jan Jansen [funny guy with Minsk in the party, and he is my thief, I don't even have to loose a mage], Aerie [great combination of magic], and Jaheira [for some extra healing and nice druid spells].
In my oppinion wizards are the best character classes! They are very versatile, kill well, and if some monster happens to be magic resistant or you are outnumbered, you simply summon some "friends"!

Before I go to kick some Irenicus Ass, I'l let each character join my party, only to do their quests. The exception will be Viconia, because I don't want to loose reputation. However, I might let her join in ToB, for the romance...
Oh, another question! I had Jaheira in my party, for the ring of wizardry, and I was summoned to the Harpers HQ. There where 6 Harpers waiting for me, but when the dialogue was over, one disapeared, the tief, her name starts with Ma... she is on the far right. Is she supposed to disapear? I think i killed her other times. Do u know what items she posesses?

hats off to sorcerors. it is ironic i am going through solo with one right now too. and little tip if an enemy is highly magic resistant and it is a fight you have time to get ready for, load up some spell triggers with "lower resistance" spell and say "good bye magic resistance"

Hahahahahahahahahaha! good one

I have also heard that doing WK later on means ALL the enemies adjust to the party's level, meaning more EXP for all. And Dundee's warning only applies to actually ENTERING the Keep--you can still go shopping on the roof whenever you want, and not risk losing a thing.
