Howdy. I'm a big fan of old, pre-windows95 games and as such I often need to run them in MS-DOS mode. However, for some reason my comp won't enable the CD-rom drive in said mode. It used to allow this, until I sent it to the shop for repairs recently and they reisntalled my OS for me. Now, I've tried reinstalling windows again but this doesn't work. I know I'll have to fiddle around with my config.sys or something like that, but I have no idea what to add in or take out.
I'm using Win98 btw.
If anyone could offer any help or advice it would be much appreciated.

There are things that you need to do first:
1. Download you CD-ROM's DOS driver
2. Edit the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files

CONFIG.SYS
- Add this line to the sample that I gave: (from the post in the link)
<font color=skyblue>Device=C:\CDROM\CDROM.SYS /D:MSCD000</font>
Note1: please substitute <font color=yellow>C:\CDROM\CDROM.SYS </font>with the correct path and driver.
Note2: If <font color=skyblue>/D:MSCD000</font> don't work, try <font color=skyblue>/D:MSCD001</font>

AUTOEXEC.BAT
-Add this line to the sample that I gave: (from the post in the link)
<font color=skyblue>LH C:\Windows\Command\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD000</font>
Note1: The file <font color=skyblue>MSCDEX.EXE</font> is usually located in the <font color=white>C:\Windows\Command</font> folder/directory
Note2: The device ID <font color=skyblue>/D:MSCD000</font> must be the same as the one stated in the CONFIG.SYS; which means if you set the ID as <font color=yellow>/D:MSCD001</font> in the CONFIG.SYS, then you will need to specified the ID as <font color=yellow>/D:MSCD001</font> in the AUTOEXEC.BAT
