Can they set traps? If not, I'm doomed.
Sorry for the short post, but this is basically all I need to know.

In PnP its up to the DM (what isnt?) but I believe the rulebook says you can.

In Infinity games, yes.

Other than that, I dunno.

they cannot in bg1, Icewind dale, Planescape: Torment, but in PnP as long as you have the set snares proficiency/skill then the answer is yes

in 3e DnD they can but it doesnt say how in the players handbook
i do know there's an entire chapter devoted to setting traps in song and silence, the bard and rogue book

in ADnD they can by using set snare

BUT it's always the curtosy of the DM
if he says you cant set traps, you cant set traps

in NWN as far as I know anyone who is a rougue can pretty much set up a trap and its based on 3rd ed so i'd probably go with "yes you can" if its 3rd ed...

2nd ed tends to make all the heroes seem incredibly weak all the time and 1st was munchkin city :D I'm not too knowledged about being a rogue in 1st and second though I'm right now playing a 2nd eddition rogue in a game who's a foxanthrople elf I'll have to see what I can get away with :D

I'm not familiar with 3e D&D but in NWN there is a seperate skill for setting traps, and set snares is available to warriors and roguish types in AD&D 2nd Ed although it states in the manual only thieves can set up traps to catch humans (demihumans/humanoids) what kind of trap and how it will be triggered is left up to the imagination of the player, and what the DM will permit.
