As far as i know, PI is supposed to create a duplicate of the caster, which can then cast all the spells the caster could, minus one 7th lvl spell ( the PI he just casted) ...
But every time cast PI, some 7th, 8th and 9th lvl spells are missing for my -P'd I-. For instance, my original mage would have 3 time-stops and 2 Improved alacrity and my -P'd I- would have 2 time-stops and 1 improved alacrity ( something like that) Why is this ? Are there spells deducted for a PI ? And if so, which spell .. the one in the first / last spellslot or something ? Thx for any replies |
Question. Was your caster fully rested and had all his/her spells memorised?
The PI illusion is an exact duplicate of the current state of your spellcaster. |
yeah, fully rested, ALL spells memorised were usable ...
Im not sure about the lvl 7 and 8 , but i allways noticed this with the 9th lvl spells ... Its kinda irritating when your PI suddenly doesnt have Time-stop anymore, and once he's dead, your real mage does :( |
Tis odd. Never encountered that bug before. I assume you have already patched your game with the official patch and the Baldurdash ToB Fixpack v1.12?
|
yup :(
I'll try some stuff and post later on .. exactly which spells disappear, which spellslot they were in and such |
doesnt one of those spells like PI take a % level of the caster and make the image out of that?
|
I think the percentage one is Simiculum or something like that not sure of the spelling

Simulacrum 8th lvl spell
Creates a copy of the caster, which has 60% of the caster current lvl The only real advantage it has, is that the caster himself can still move around and attack too .. whereas with PI, the caster is simply replaced. Also, a Simulacrum can attack physically, a PI can not .. The last is a very nice advantage for Fighter/mage's who are dualled. If i had a kensai/mage lvl 13/16, he'd be able to cast simulacrum, when cast, a copy of the caster is created and they can both use magic / attack physically. Now .. the simulacrum is at 60% of the casters lvl, but does still retain its lvl 13 as a kensai, it becomes a kensai/mage lvl 13/9. This is an advantage, since you gain a very powerfull fighter. |
Incidentally, just a slight bit of trivia/cheese...if you cast restoration on a Simulacrum, it'll become the same level as your normal caster (it's really a level drained clone). Won't help for the # of spells, but it will for adding dice to damage spells (i.e., d6s to skull traps)

Hmpf :(
Now, all of the sudden, my PI has all of its spells ... The game is toying with me :( Well, the spells were rearanged a bit after casting PI, so maybe that's what confused me or something Anywayz, im going to kill stuff now :D |
